Leadership
Primary Organizer for 2COOOL Workshop @ ICCV25
October 2025International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), 2025; Honolulu, HI
Served as primary organizer for 2nd Workshop Challenge on Out-of-Label Hazards in Autonomous Driving (2COOOL) at ICCV 2025, organized in collaboration with the University of Tennessee, University of Notre Dame, Honda Research Institute, and others. Raised over $7,000 in academic and industry sponsorships to support the event and led efforts to showcase original research on novelty detection in autonomous driving, establishing 2COOOL as a benchmark forum in the field.
Primary Organizer for COOOL Workshop @ WACV25
March 2025IEEE/CVF Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision (WACV) 2025; Tucson, AZ

Served as primary organizer of the inaugural 1st Workshop Challenge on Out-of-Label Hazards in Autonomous Driving (COOOL) workshop at WACV 2025, in collaboration with NEC Laboratories America, Inc. and Amazon. Raised academic and industry sponsorships and organized a premier forum for pioneering research on novelty detection and autonomous driving safety.
Led Student Teams for Dataset Development
Organized and led multiple student teams to create large-scale datasets for autonomous vehicle research. Collaborated with students from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) and partner institutions, including Czech Technical University and Xi'an Jiaotong University, to develop robust datasets focused on novelty detection in autonomous driving systems.

Organized the inaugural Kaggle competition and workshop on out-of-label hazards in autonomous driving, in collaboration with NEC Laboratories America, Inc. and Amazon. The event highlighted novel approaches for addressing safety-critical novelty detection challenges in autonomous vehicle systems. -
2COOOL — https://www.kaggle.com/competitions/2coool
Leading the follow-up Kaggle competition and workshop, expanding the benchmark dataset and introducing new tasks on hazard detection, recognition, and report generation. The workshop is supported by multiple academic and industry sponsors and invites cutting-edge research contributions from the global CVPR/ICCV community.
Collaboration
Novelty Theory and Open-World Image Classification
2023Worked in close collaboration with researchers from more than four institutions, including the University of Maryland, University of Notre Dame, University of Oregon, and Kitware Inc., to advance a novel theoretical foundation for image classification. This joint effort also delivered software as part of the Science of Artificial Intelligence and Learning for Open-world Novelty (SAIL-ON) program.
